Lost and Found Podcast
Lost and Found is a podcast about the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit and the case that followed. The podcast attempts to answer the question "If this case happened today, would it be solved?" I compare and contrast the technology, investigative techniques and more of today and yesterday to find the answer and uncover what some are afraid to do.
Episode Three was nominated and won first place honors in the Iowa Collegiate Media Association and Society for Collegiate Journalists annual award contests
This Is War Podcast
This Is War is a podcast that takes inspiration from the classic radio drama "War of the Worlds". The big twist comes during the second episode, where the radio drama comes to life and the New York area is under attack. I was able to work in a field I never thought I would, Foley. Items I used to create sound effects include a slinky, matches, cups, and bell peppers.
Morning Call With Tyler
Since summer 2017, I have produced a morning radio show every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Morning Call was apart of KBVU 97.5 The Edge's lineup of shows, and covered topics such as sports, local and national news, and various entertainment segments. This show pushed me to create various different promotions, liners, and commercials for his show, and ways to promote the show on social media.
The Wave
During the 2018 football season, the University of Iowa debuted The Wave, a new tradition where every fan at Kinnick Stadium turns around and waves to the kids at the nearby Children's Hospital. This caught the media by storm. Social media and colleges across the nation were touched and moved by this simple gesture.
This podcast tells the story of Sarah Noe, a parent who's child was at the Children's Hospital when the wave was debuted and how The Wave made an impact in its first year of existence.
Mental State
This audio story was created after Iowa governor Kim Reynolds signed into law House Bill 2456, creating a better mental health system in Iowa. But, the question remains, how will this bill fix what's already broken. This audio story puts into perspective the mental health situation in Iowa and includes an interview with mental health advocate Joan Becker. This audio story stands as an early entry of my podcasting portfolio and demonstrated how my skills for podcasting, journalism, and content creation where present from the beginning of my college career.
Video Projects
Audio is not the only area I excel at. I had the pleasure of being part of various video projects with Buena Vista University's television studio, BVTV. These include various sports broadcasts, news shows, and even the 23rd annual Walter Siebens American Heritage Lecture Series, featuring Steve Wozniak.
